Sayings that kept me motivated!

Rebuilding myself has definitely not been the easiest thing I’ve done, but it is by far the one thing I am the proudest of. I look back on the past year and I cannot do anything but smile at the progress I’ve made! When you are starting from rock bottom, there is not anywhere you can go but up… even when the going gets tough you just have to remember that your little roller coaster cart is ticking its way up that hill. That hill might look like a mountain at first, but once you’ve reached the top and get to see that view, you are not going to be able to do anything but smile!

Now I am not saying my climb to the top was easy and heck my climb might not even be done yet, but when I turn around and look back at the progress I’ve made I cannot do anything but smile! In my climb, I definitely hit a few rough patches and for sure thought about giving up but I just had to keep reminded myself to keep going! I had a few sayings I would tell myself or write out in my planner to keep reminding myself to push through! So, I have created a list of these sayings with how they can help in different situations.

The first saying, which I know is extremely cliché, but is a good one to still think about is:
“Everything happens for a reason.”
This can relate to literally almost everything. You might be thinking “Uhm, getting a flat tire doesn’t happen for a reason that’s just an inconvenience.” Which you’re right, it is a major inconvenience, but it helps you adjust and learn what to do when life happens because life is most definitely going to happen.  I can’t tell you how many times I had some type of situation happen to me (a flat tire, a ticket, I got sick, I missed a payment… the list goes on and on) and I thought why in the world did this have to happen to me, as if I didn’t already have enough going on. But, you just have to step back and think hey at least it taught me how to budget better, or how to take better care of myself! So, you just have to remember it happened for a reason, whether it was to teach you a lesson or bring you some reality.

These next few sayings are super personal to me, and I honestly tell myself them almost every day!

I know this next one is from a movie, but it reminds you of something very important:
“Hakuna Matata, it means no worries”
I don’t know about you, but when I read this or say it I hear it being sang in the Lion King! It just automatically puts a little smirk on my face! You just always have to remember that even when the going gets tough, you cannot worry about things! You have to have trust and faith in yourself that things are going to keep moving forward! That cold you have is not going to be the end of the world, you cannot worry about it! You just have to relax, take care of yourself and work at getting better! You cannot worry or sweat the small stuff! You probably won’t even remember what you were worrying about in a month… I know I barely remember some of the things I was worrying about a week ago let alone a year ago… so have no worries!

I got this next one from a friend in high school, who lived a short but positive life:
“You gotta take the good with the bad, smile when you’re sad, love what you got, and remember what you had”
Life is not always going to be peaches and cream, you are going to go through tough times, sad times, and times you just want to give up. You can’t look at the negative sides of these times. When you are in a bad situation, you have to find the positives! There is something good in every situation, even if it doesn’t seem like it, you have to look past the negatives. Just like when you’re sad you gotta keep smiling, sometimes if you put a smile on your face you do actually start to feel better! If you start sulking about the past, don’t, cherish the times you had but you have to keep looking at your future because that’s the direction you are going in… you can’t keep looking back if you’re walking forward.

This next one is more on the faith side and if that’s not you that’s okay because not everyone as the same viewpoint but the meaning can still pertain to you:
“God knows I’m tough, he knows”
You are going to run into so many different situations in your life. Some much worse than others but you have to remind yourself you can get through anything you run into. God is never going to put you through a situation you can’t handle! You were built to conquer and succeed in life, so put on that armor and kick those difficult situations butt!

The last saying I have for you is by far the most important saying in my life! People have been trying to drive this into my head for years now, and just recently I started listening and Holy Cow it has made such an impact in my life:
“Take care of yourself”
I can’t even begin to tell you how important this is. I’m currently writing a blog post about this because it is so important to me. If you aren’t your top self, then how are you going to be able to grow and help others. You cannot take care of others until you have taken care of yourself. There is only one of YOU… and if you aren’t taking care of yourself youre just going to run yourself to the ground. Find time for you and your needs… need a bubble bath? Make time. Need to work out? Make time. I cannot express how important it is to take care of you!

I hope some of these sayings inspire you because they inspire me on the daily and let me tell you… it makes a huge difference having sayings to remind yourself to keep growing! Whether your younger, middle aged, or even older, it is never too late to work on yourself!
