My Newest Adventure

Friday, March 16, 2018

Good afternoon and happy Friday everyone! I don’t know about anyone else but I’m super excited for this weekend because it’s St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow 🍀 One of my favorite holidays of the year! I’ve been celebrating since I was a kid, but Alex and I have always celebrated together since we started dating and we are very excited for tomorrow! But on a different note I have more than just St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate this weekend. In my post a couple weeks ago about interview tips, I talked about how I was applying for one of my dream positions. Well here I am, to share with you guys my exciting news I received over spring break. I had my interview two weeks ago today with the Disney College Program (DCP). For those of you who have never heard of the program before or those who have but don’t know what it is, the DCP is a college internship where you work, live, and learn at either the Walt Disney World resort in Florida or the Disneyland Resort in California. This is a once and a life time opportunity and I am excited to go on this adventure!

I have had my eye on this program since I was in high school, but two things held me back, one cheerleading and two courage. My cheerleading career ended mid-February and four days later I received an email from Disney saying don’t forget to apply. That weekend I had lost my dog and cheerleading and I was in this foggy state of mind not knowing what to do with myself. When I read the email I instantly thought this is my next door opening and I need to take it. I submitted the application and moved on to the next thing I needed to do that day. Once I made it past the last interview, I’ve never felt so anxious in my life! I had my final interview on a Friday and the following Tuesday is when acceptance emails were to be sent out. From the minute I woke up until about 11am I refreshed my email probably a million times, my mom kept making fun of me but oh well it was easing my mind lol. Around 11 I opened my email but left it and went to get up to walk away when I saw the congratulations email... humans don’t fly but I sure did in that moment! I was so excited to read the word “Congratulations” pop up.

After reading through the contract, submitting my acceptance, and selecting my arrival date, I am so unbelievably blessed and happy to say that as of September 2018 I will be working for Mickey himself as one of his cast members at Walt Disney World. This is a big change for me, but I am so excited to take on this new adventure! I will periodically be posting about the DCP on here to update my family about my journey and for other applicants to read as they begin their journey with Disney.

My journey so far has been a crazy winding road that I haven’t/won’t be able to make on my own. So, I would like to send a huge thank you to all the family, current friends, and future friends who have and will be supporting me! In the meantime, I’m going to continue to prepare for my departure from Ohio and take one day of this new adventure at a time! But for now, I’m going to go out a celebrate... ears off to you!
